Biography

American diplomat and author, Jonathan S. Addleton (1957- ) received a B.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. from Tufts University. In his 32-year career, Addleton, who retired in 2017, served as the U.S. ambassador to Mongolia, USAID representative to the European Union in Brussels, U.S. Senior Civilian Representative to southern Afghanistan, and USAID Mission Director in India, Pakistan, Cambodia, Mongolia, and Central Asia. He also served as USAID Program Officer in countries including South Africa, Yemen, Jordan, and Kazakhstan. As of 2018, Dr. Addleton has written four books and has contributed to many more, in addition to authoring numerous articles.
