Scope and Contents

The records of the Northwestern University Associates spanning the years 1951-1982 comprise three boxes. The bulk of the records date from 1960 to 1981. There are no records for the years 1958-59. The records consist primarily of lists, correspondence, notes concerning the Associates' quarterly luncheon programs and membership. A typical folder includes: catering invoices for the luncheon programs; duplicating invoices; luncheon menus; annual attendance records; annual luncheon program pamphlets; annual program preference poll sheets and an accepts/regrets list. Also included in many of the folders is information on membership, including members' obituary notices, membership rosters, annual new Associates lists, Associates' Directory information, Associate and Trustee changes in membership, and miscellaneous correspondence.

Two folders pertain to the Associates' silver (February 3, 1954) and golden (May 4, 1979) anniversaries. These records include the programs, invitations, press releases, expenses and correspondence concerning the events.

The records are arranged chronologically.

Method of Acquisition

The records of the Northwestern University Associates were transferred to the University Archives as part of the Records of the Office of Special Events, Department of Development. The Associates Records were separated as Accession #84-40 on January 5, 1984. The records were transferred by Geraldine Beisang, Manager of the Office of Development/Special Events.
