This collection consists of black and white photographic negatives taken by Evanston native and Northwestern University alumnus L. David Minsk, approximately from 1939 to 1942. The photographs include images of University Theatre and Children's Theatre productions, ancillary shots such as a Children's theatre audience, an acting class performance, a studio make-up room, and protraits made of several Northwestern students.

Abstract

This collection consists of black and white photographic negatives taken by Evanston native and Northwestern University alumnus L. David Minsk, approximately from 1939 to 1942. The photographs include images of University Theatre and Children's Theatre productions, ancillary shots such as a Children's theatre audience, an acting class performance, a studio make-up room, and protraits made of several Northwestern students.

Arrangement

The photographic negatives are organized by category; the categories are in alphabetical order.

Method of Acquisition

L. David Minsk donated the negatives to the University Archives on April 28, 1995 (Accession #95–157).

Related Materials

The University Archives also holds some of Minsk's photographic prints, acquired in previous years from various sources. They are filed in the University Archives' photographic collection under the general heading: "Speech, School of. Drama." Thereafter they are filed by name of specific performance. Minsk's photographs are marked on the reverse side with an identifying stamp.

Separated Materials

Four negatives of (an) unidentified Children's Theatre performance(s) have been removed to the University Archives' collection of nitrate negatives. They are filed under the heading: Minsk, L. David.
