Scope and Contents
The records are contained in four and one-half archival boxes dating from 1917 to 1952. The series is comprised of applications for membership to the Upsilon chapter. Information cards listing the year of initiation and/or transfer of the applicant to the chapter are commonly found where applications are missing. Information in each application includes personal data such as: name, birthdate, ancestry, marital status, and other related information. The applications contain additional information as well: date of initiation and transfer to or from the Upsilon chapter, and the individual's educational and professional background. Personal photographs are included with a small portion of the applications.

Abstract
Phi Delta Kappa is a professional fraternity for graduates in the field of education. The records are contained in four and one-half archival boxes dating from 1917 to 1952. The series is comprised of applications for membership to the Upsilon chapter. Information cards listing the year of initiation and/or transfer of the applicant to the chapter are commonly found where applications are missing.
Arrangement Note
The membership records are arranged numerically according to the roll number assigned to each applicant. The roll number corresponds to the date the applicant became a member of the Upsilon chapter of Phi Delta Kappa. When more than one applicant became a member on the same date, the roll numbers were assigned roughly in alphabetical order by surname.
Method of Acquisition
The series was transferred to the University Archives from Paula Olszewski, School of Education, on September 20, 1983 and accessioned as #83-139.
