Scope and Contents
This series, filling nineteen boxes, comprises the administrative records of the director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. The series span the period 1959-1980 but bulks between the years from 1975 through 1979. The records are divided into two subseries: more than one box of Charles H. Gold's general correspondence and almost eighteen boxes of subject files. The general correspondence is mainly routine and administrative in nature. The subject files typically concern research proposals and university programs and include correspondence between ORSP and university officers and faculty and representatives of funding agencies. Also included are internal university memoranda and copies of research and grant proposals as well as draft proposals. Many materials within the series antedate establishment of ORSP but also concern sponsored research and research administration at Northwestern.

The records are divided into two subseries: general correspondence and subject files. Many materials within the series antedate establishment of ORSP but also concern sponsored research and research administration at Northwestern.
Arrangement Note
