Poet, editor, publisher Tambimuttu (1915-1983) moved to London from native Ceylon in 1938, co-founded the publishing firm Editions Poetry London, and edited Poetry London. In 1956 he founded Poetry London/New York. Again living in England in 1972, he and Katharine Falley Bennett launched Lyrebird Press. In 1979 he produced Poetry London/Apple Magazine. He also established the Indian Arts Council and traveled in India. The Tambimuttu Archive contains correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, galleys and proofs, and his personal library. Included also is correspondence by associates related to publication of Jane Williams’s festschrift, Tambimuttu: Bridge Between Two Worlds (London: Peter Owen, 1989).
