Abstract The Augustus Garrett Letterbooks consist of two bound volumes of copies of outgoing (and occasional incoming) letters of Augustus Garrett. The first volume (280 pages) spans the period from October 29, 1843, through January 2, 1845; the second (214 pages) from January 3 through August 19, 1845. Abstract James Carson Worthy, businessman, professor, and public servant, was born January 8, 1910 in Midland, Texas. After growing up in the southern Chicago suburb of Glenwood, Illinois, Worthy entered Northwestern University's College of Liberal Arts in 1929 as an Austin Scholar. The James C.
