The history of William Deering family and the lives of many of the family's individual members have been well chronicled in numerous sources. This series reflects a portion of the family's long service and generosity on behalf of Northwestern University.

Abstract The Augustus Garrett Letterbooks consist of two bound volumes of copies of outgoing (and occasional incoming) letters of Augustus Garrett. The first volume (280 pages) spans the period from October 29, 1843, through January 2, 1845; the second (214 pages) from January 3 through August 19, 1845. Tullman is a Chicago-based serial entrepreneur, business executive, educator, and art collector. The Tullman papers contain extensive information on each of the companies and organizations Tullman has founded or led, including financial information and product development, and (where applicable) examples of the products themselves.

Abstract James Carson Worthy, businessman, professor, and public servant, was born January 8, 1910 in Midland, Texas. After growing up in the southern Chicago suburb of Glenwood, Illinois, Worthy entered Northwestern University's College of Liberal Arts in 1929 as an Austin Scholar. The James C.
