Abstract
The Hough Papers reflect the brief tenure (July 1, 1919, to October 1, 1920) of an individual who had had no previous pertinent experience for the position of a university president, who apparently had been elected out of desperation as a compromise candidate, and who was absent from his office during most of his presidency because of preaching activities, travel, and illness.
