Abstract In 1942, Beam accepted an appointment at Northwestern University as an assistant professor of electrical engineering. The University promoted him to associate professor in 1947 and professor in 1950. He retired from Northwestern on December 31, 1979. Abstract The Richard W. Jones papers are arranged in three boxes and span the period 1942—1980. The papers include a small amount of biographical materials, teaching materials including lecture and research notes, and the draft of an unpublished book. Biographical materials include clippings, press releases, vitas, and other items as well as Jones' account of the early years of biomedical engineering at Northwestern.
