Biography

The Northwestern University Center for Nursing was established in 1979, initially offering only a baccalaureate program. The program was accredited by the National League for Nursing in 1980, and the first class graduated in December, 1980. In 1981 a graduate program was initiated. 

The baccalaureate program graduated general practicing nurses who could provide professional care in a variety of settings. The graduate program prepared advanced practitioners who could function in specialized and advanced nursing roles in clinical practice, nursing administration, education, and research.

The Center for Nursing Records fill ten boxes and span the period 1979-1984. The records consist of course materials arranged chronologically by academic quarter. Within each quarter, folders are arranged alphabetically by course title.
Each course file contains some or all of the following items: syllabi, course descriptions, exams, and student papers.

Abstract

The Center for Nursing personnel records comprise ten boxes and date from 1978 to 1989. The personnel records include files of staff, clinical faculty, and faculty. A file may contain some or all of the following documents: vitas, new faculty appointment forms, salary change forms, payroll discontinuation forms, letters of recommendation, letters of resignation, and correspondence relating to an individual's appointment or resignation.
