Abstract

This series includes student papers from undergraduate and graduate Astronomy courses offered over scattered years between 1962 and 1977. The courses included are A20 Highlights of Astronomy, C10 Advanced General Astronomy, C50 History of Astronomy, D16 Interstellar Medium, Galactic Structure and Galaxies, and D20 Seminar: Topics in Astrophysics. The papers are mainly from Professor J. Allen Hynek's C50 History of Astronomy course and bulk during the period from 1973 through 1976.

Abstract Arthur J. Freeman (1930-2016) was chair of the Physics Department at Northwestern University, 1967-2014. He was a solid-state theorist interested in the electronic and magnetic properties of rare-earth and other transition metals. He was well known among solid-state experimentalists for his work on hyperfine interactions in transition metals. Abstract Su-Shu Huang was professor of physics and astronomy at Northwestern University.
