Abstract
Randolph Sinks Foster (1820-1903) was a Methodist minister and served as the third president of Northwestern University, from 1857-1860. The Randolph S. Foster Papers fill one half-size box and span the years 1857-1949. They consist of biographical materials, one letter from Foster, and later correspondence relating to Foster.

Abstract
Methodist minister Clark Titus Hinman was elected the first President of Northwestern University in 1853, but died before the University opened in 1855. This artificial collection consists of biographical material and correspondence postdating his life; there is also one original sermon.
