Biography

NHSMI was one of seven divisions of Northwestern University’s National High School Institute. The Institute was established in 1931 and is the oldest program of its kind in the nation. Its programs of study included: composition, jazz, music education and conducting, piano, strings, voice, winds and percussion, and classical guitar.
