Biography

The University Architect was responsible for supervising institutional master planning and the design and construction of all new and remodeled buildings on the Evanston and Chicago campuses of the university. From 1926 to 1977 it was an informally held post. In 1978, Gabor Zsolnay was the first to be appointed as the official University Architect at Northwestern University.

This collection consists of architectural drawings (floor plans, elevations, perspective views, construction details), and models; chiefly of buildings on the Evanston and Chicago campuses of Northwestern University. It includes buildings that were constructed (whether or not they survive), and buildings that were projected but never built.
