Abstract

An album of postcards, mostly of Mombasa and Nairobi, taken during the early 1900s through 1930s. Some postcards depict major Nairobi streets such as Sixth Avenue, renamed Delamere Avenue (now Kenyatta Avenue), and Government Road (now Moi Road) over the years. Other postcards include photographs of Kikuyu and Kavirondo people dressed in ceremonial garb, and various agricultural concerns, including the growing and processing of coffee and sisal.

Abstract

An album of postcards, mostly from Zanzibar and Uganda, with a few from Kenya and Ethiopia. Includes images of the Sultan of Zanzibar, Zanzibar, and Ugandan royalty from the first decade of 1900. Many of the postcards from Kenya include trains and railways, published by the East African Railways and Harbours Administration, later the East African Railways Corporation.
