Richard Abrahams Papers

Swimmer Richard Abrahams set more than ten world records and more than twenty American records for Masters swimming. The 1966 Northwestern graduate is a Big Ten Champion, NCAA All-American, and an inductee to the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame.

Abstract Karl Abt graduated from Northwestern University in 1948 with a B.S. in Business Administration (concentration in business management/personnel). While at Northwestern, Abt was active in the Northwestern University Band, playing clarinet and bass clarinet, the Christian Youth League, and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. Northwestern University Anti-CIA Protest photographs, 1988-1989

Abstract

This collection includes 49 images from a student-led protest of the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) recruitment on campus on November 14, 1988. Multiple student organizations vehemently opposed the CIA’s presence on campus and started calling for action and/or protests. This collection also includes a small selection of articles from the Daily Northwestern describing the incident.

Abstract James L. Bixby was a member of Northwestern's class of 1943, though he did not complete the requirements for a degree. He was a photographer for the Purple Parrot, a highly regarded campus humor and feature magazine, as well as the Daily Northwestern and the Syllabus. Dwight St. John Bobb was born on July 19, 1876 in Dakota, Illinois, the son of Daniel Bobb, a physician, and his wife Arminda St. John. The Dwight St. John Bobb and Family Collection fills four boxes and contains material spanning the years 1865 to 2012. The collection is divided into two subsections, Biographical Materials and Photographs and Correspondence.

Willson P. Brumback (1896-1981) Football Scrapbook

Abstract Willson Brumback's Scrapbook documents Northwestern's triumphal 1916 football season in seventeen pages of newspaper clippings. Seven pages of clippings are devoted to the October 21, 1916, game at Stagg Field, when the Northwestern Purple beat the Chicago Maroons 10-0, NU's first win over Chicago since 1901. The majority of the clippings date between October and November 1916, and include those from the Daily Northwestern, local Chicago newspapers, and the papers local to the away games....

Abstract

The C. M. Clay Buntain Scrapbook documents Buntain's activities at Northwestern between 1894 and 1902. It includes newspaper clippings (from Chicago newspapers such as the Tribune and Herald as well as from student publications), programs, and announcements, arranged in rough chronological order. Abstract On May 3, 1968 more than 100 undergraduate and graduate students occupied the Bursar's Office, in the first major sit-in experienced at Northwestern University. After the students' April 22nd list of demands were not met, they declared their intention to keep the office occupied until these demands were met. Abstract

The University Archives holds photographs of individual freshman members of the class of 1978. The photographs appeared in the introductory booklet published by the Northwestern University Alumni Association for freshmen entering the University. The photographs, usually wallet-size, are mounted in groups, alphabetically arranged by student surnames, on forty-five fifteen inch-by-twenty-one inch sheets of cardboard.
