Biography
Mary Ramage Peterson was born in McGregor, Iowa in 1876. She graduated from the Cumnock School of Oratory at Northwestern University in 1897, received a post-graduate degree in 1898 (Speech), and studied with a private tutor for a half year (1899). She taught for two years at Lawrence University where she was also Dean of Women. She was an accomplished and popular reader and actress. In 1901 she married Barry Gilbert, who obtained a degree in Liberal Arts in 1898, and a Law degree in 1901, both from Northwestern. Mary died in 1954 at the age of 78.

Lawyer, law professor and poet Barry Gilbert obtained an A.B. degree (1898) and an LL.B. (1901) from Northwestern University. Reader and actress Mary Ramage Peterson graduated from the Cumnock School of Oratory at Northwestern University in 1897, and received a post-graduate degree in 1898 (Speech).
