Biography

Born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1945, Tullman moved with his family to Highland Park, Illinois, in 1955. After graduating from Highland Park High School in 1963, Tullman received B.A. (1967, mathematics and economics) and J.D. (1970) degrees from Northwestern University.

Tullman practiced law in Chicago until 1980, when he founded his first company. The following may be numbered among the principal companies and other organizations he has founded and/or led during his wide-ranging career as entrepreneur in the Chicago area.

  • Financial Protection Services, Inc. (Chairman).
  • CCC [Certified Colateral Corporation] Information Services (founded 1980). A subsidiary of Financial Protection Services
  • Eager Enterprises, Inc. (Chief Executive Officer, 1990-1994). A venture capital firm that invested in and developed database and transaction-oriented information management businesses
  • Information Kinetics, Inc. (Chief Executive Officer, 1991-1994). IKI developed and marketed kiNexus, a national computerized database of job candidates; Career Network; and FasTrak
  • COIN, Inc. (Chief Executive Officer, 1992-1993)
  • Imaginaton Pilots, Inc. (President and Chief Executive Officer, 1993-1997). This company specialized in CD-ROM games and other entertainment and educational products for both the PC and Macintosh platforms
  • JamTV Corporation (later Tunes.com, Inc.; Chief Executive Officer, 1996-2000). The company specialized in the webcasting of live music events. The company launched sites for Rolling Stone, The source and DownBeat magazine
  • Exceed Group, Inc. (Chief Executive Officer, 2000-2001). Tullman reorganized the company, and sold it to eSynergies, Inc.
  • Kendall College (President, starting in 2002; later President Emeritus). Tullman focused the College's mission on the hospitality industry, and moved the campus from Evanston, Illinois to Chicago
  • Flashpoint, the academy of media arts and sciences (founded, 2007; later renamed Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy)
