Virginia Buettner was born July 1, 1917, at Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Walter John Buettner and Gladys Bartley Buettner. After graduating from The Faulkner School for Girls, a private school on the south side of Chicago, she matriculated to Northwestern University in 1935, enrolling in the College of Liberal Arts. Buettner joined Delta Gamma sorority and was active in Northwestern’s Women’s Athletic Association, joining the freshman rifle team and participating in volleyball. She took her bachelor of arts degree from Northwestern in June, 1939. Buettner returned to her Kenwood (Chicago) home and died there June 1, 2004.

Scope and Contents The collection consists of a few loose pages of a scrapbook reflecting Buettner’s social activities while a Northwestern student.
