Biography
Lloyd Wendt, 1908-2007, born and educated in South Dakota, began his journalism career with Sioux Falls newspapers while a community college student. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Northwestern University before working for Chicago newspapers, the Chicago Tribune, Chicago's American, and Chicago Today during his career. He collaborated with colleague Herman Kogan on several books involving Chicago politics and history, including Chicago, A Pictorial History (1958). His novel, Bright Tomorrow was written during the 1950s when he also taught fiction at Northwestern University. He published Chicago Tribune: The Rise of a Great American Newspaper (Rand McNally, 1979) at the end of his career.
