Abstract
Edoardo Sanguineti (1930-2010) taught at various Italian universites after receiving his doctorate at the University of Turin. He published poetry, novels, opera libretti, and critical essays on Dante, twentieth-century authors and literary movements. During his formative years he wrote this collection of some one hundred letters to fellow Italian Gianna Sommi before she moved to the United States to study at Cornell University on a Fulbright scholarship in 1957.
