Biography

Philip Kinsley served in the Navy during the Spanish-American war, and attended Lake Forest College. He began his career at the Chicago Tribune in 1903, reporting on the Iroquois Theater fire. He joined the staff of the Associated Press in 1909, working in Chicago and San Francisco, and returned to the Tribune in 1918. He retired from the Tribune in 1946, having completed the first three volumes of a history of the Tribune.
