Abstract
The New Music Chicago Records consist of administrative records, correspondence, newsletters, publicity and promotional materials, clippings, and subject files. A complete run of New Music Chicago in Print, which was the organization's monthly newsletter, and materials used in preparation for each issue are included in the collection.
Arrangement
New Music Chicago records consists of 6 boxes and is arranged into three series with 4 sub-series as follows:
Series 1: Administrative records and correspondence – divided into Sub-series 1: Records; Sub-series 2. Correspondence.
Series 2: Newsletters, publicity and promotional materials – divided into Sub-series 1. Newsletters: New Music Chicago In Print; Sub-series 2. Publicity and promotional materials.
Series 3: Subject files
Original order and folder names, where present, have been retained wherever possible. Some additional descriptive information has been provided in series, sub-series and folder titles.
While, all materials are arranged in the above series and sub-series structure, oversize materials may be stored in separate boxes to accomodate irregular sizes and shapes.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Northwestern University Music Library obtained the New Music Chicago Records from the organization's former corresponding secretary, Deborah Campana, following the dissolution of the organization. Campana was an employee of the Northwestern University Music Library and Ph.D. student at the time.
Separated Materials
Duplicate copies of materials have been discarded.
