Although collected by a single person, the papers cover all aspects of the Institute's activities. The bulk of the materials cover the years 1983 and 1984. The African American Institute Records are organized into six series:

  • Programs, organizations and initiatives. Arranged alphabetically by name of the program
  • Countries and regions. Organized alphabetically by name of the country or region
  • Meetings, conferences and other datable events. Arranged chronologically
  • Correspondence, memos, notes, etc. Arranged chronologically
  • Calendar pages. Appointments, telephone calls, lists of tasks to perform Arranged chronologically
  • Resumes, CVs, etc. These materials are restricted, because they contain private information about individuals applying for grants and job openings
  • Dates
