Zanzibar, 1920s and 1930s
Scope and Contents
Photographs depict the Sultan and members of his family in various European settings, including visiting a factory and a hospital; two photographs of a bi-plane, and one identified as the Legislative Council of Zanzibar. All captions have been supplied from the inventory except as noted. Note that Object 68.4, identified in the inventory as "The Sultan and his son at a European hospital in Zanzibar", is labeled on the back as Carlisle, England and, given the heavy clothing worn by people in the picture, was probably taken in England and not in Zanzibar.
