Many photographs depict outings to nearby villages on Zanzibar and Pemba Islands. The album includes several photographs of the Sultan and formal portraits of British navel officers, Foreign Office, and their wives.

The front free end paper is inscribed, ‘Zanzibar 1912 (also early part 1913)'.
General Many of the captions in this album are nearly, if not completely, illegible. An attempt has been made to transcribe more than was included in the original inventory. In many cases, the original inventory includes captions supplied by the cataloger that differ quite a bit from the visible captions.
