Scenes from Zanzibar and surrounding areas, depicting British Foreign Office and naval personnel in casual and official situations. Many photographs depict outings to nearby villages on Zanzibar and Pemba Islands. The album includes several photographs of the Sultan and formal portraits of British navel officers, Foreign Office, and their wives.

Many of the captions in this album are nearly, if not completely, illegible. An attempt has been made to transcribe more than was included in the original inventory. In many cases, the original inventory includes captions supplied by the cataloger that differ quite a bit from the visible captions.
