African women and children
Scope and Contents
One photograph is of the Duchess and Miss Hicks-Beach, taken by a traveling companion on the Steam wheeler "Dhal" and signed on the verso. One page was apparently the cover letter for the photograph taken of the two women, mailed to Miss Hicks-Beach on Jan. 29, 1910, from Woodstock, Ascot, Berkshire. The signature is illegible, but appears to match the signature on the back of the photograph to which it refers. The other four pages consist of two letters written to Miss Hicks-Beach by Andereya Bisereko Duhaga, the King of Bunyoro, and the English translations of them. The subjects and photographer of the additional two photographs are unidentified.
