(18) ; D.W.4469.- ; Mallam Bello one of the Councillors from the North is a young school teacher from populous (2,700,000) and wealthy (annual revenue £388,000) Emirate of Kano, famed for its walled mud city and distiinctive architecture.  "Mallam" is courtesy title used only by learned men, corresponds roughly to Indian term "Pandit".
