Scope and Contents

The Annie May “Maisie” Blend Papers fill 1 box and span from April through October of 1938. The collection is divided into 4 subseries. These consist of Correspondence Letters, Photographs, a Scrapbook, and Miscellaneous Papers. The Correspondence Letters consist of letters and postcards. A bulk of the correspondence is between Blend and her husband Neil, but other correspondents represented are that of her mother, her sister Ivy, and some others by name: Helen and Jay, Billy May and Carole, Eulalie, Duncan Steven, and M. Walker. The correspondence letters are arranged by subject of correspondence. There is a total of five folders: two individual folders for correspondence between Blend and Neil, one folder for Blend and her mother, and one folder for Blend and all others. Additionally, there is one folder for an exception of correspondence between Gram, a family friend, and Ivy. Within each folder, the letters are organized chronologically by date; all undated letters are filed at the end of each folder.

The Photographs consist of two images of Blend’s travels.

Folder 7 contains nine Postcards written by Annie May to husband Neil and her mother in April and October of 1938. Blend’s Scrapbook consists of all of her compiled collection of all the photos, documents, menus, receipts, newspapers, posters, short stories, tickets, and concert programs of her time abroad. The scrapbook also holds Blend’s own record of her cycling trip, also from April – October of 1938. There is only one folder which contains the single scrapbook whose contents were arranged by Blend.

The General documents consist of eight folders; the folders are arranged alphabetically by subject. These include bank notes, Blend’s weight record, a map of her cycling routes, money orders, receipts, a telegraph, and various other papers.
