Original Correspondence, 1857

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 2
Identifier: Folder 2

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Randolph S. Foster Papers fill one half-size box and span the years 1857-1949. They consist of biographical materials, one letter from Foster, and later correspondence relating to Foster.

The Biographical Materials consist of book excerpts relating to the life of Randolph Foster, including excerpts from Classic Town, History of Northwestern, and an Alumni Newsletter from 1928.

One folder holds a handwritten letter from Foster to “M. Andrews,” dated December 29, 1851, asking Andrews to return to Evanston. The letter is difficult to read, but there is a typewritten copy of the letter included in the file.

Another correspondence folder contains letters written by the University to relatives of Foster, and vice-versa, in an effort to acquire pictures and archival material relating to Foster.
