Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This is an artificial collection which combines publications by and about Noyes with some of his surviving correspondence and general biographical materials. Materials date from 1842 to 1982 with most items dating from the years of Noyes's lifespan and the first decades after his death. Most of the clippings and general biographical items relate to Noyes's death and to his service to Northwestern University. A few items are genealogical in nature. The series is arranged largely according to general categories or formats: biographical materials and correspondence. Also included are a list of Noyes's books presented after death to Northwestern University and Sources of Knowledge, a published address that Noyes gave before the Ladies' Mutual Improvement Society of Newbury Seminary (1846).
