Ford Foundation Forgivable Loans, 1963
Scope and Contents
These additions to the Chemical Engineering Department files fill two and one-half boxes and span the period 1963–1983. The bulk of the records date from 1980 through 1983. The records are administrative and include a few personnel and faculty position applicant files, course files, graduate student files, and subject files.
Personnel and faculty files consist mainly of applications for faculty positions and sabbaticals. A few folders of correspondence and related materials pertaining to visiting professors also may be found here. Throughout these files are copies of curriculum vitae, applicants' letters of reference, and related correspondence.
Course files include computer print-outs and lists of grades awarded and class members for undergraduate courses offered by the department. Print-outs of course and teacher evaluations also are included. A few files on scheduling plans document department courses dropped and changed.
Graduate student files include lists of masters degree recipients entering doctoral programs, students' proposed research topics, and applications for post-doctoral fellowships.
Subject files, comprised mainly of intra-departmental correspondence, relate to programs and topics such as the department's annual seniors dinner, enrollment and recruitment. Other matters discussed are contacts with alumni and departmental biennial reports.
