From the Collection:

The Records of the Associate General Counsel at Northwestern University span from 1969-1993 and consist of 55 boxes. Boxes 1-24 boxes contain correspondence files between Mandel and various faculty members, law firms, and universities. Boxes 25-55 contain subject files; these include folders on various relevant individuals.

Boxes 1 through 24 range in date from October 1969 to early July 1993. These files contain correspondence, and address topics such as patents, civil rights in housing, loans, real estate, tuition, debt proceedings, and wages.

Part of box 24 as well as boxes 25-55 contain subject files. Subjects included in these boxes include affirmative action, academic review sanctions, bonds, budget, bylaws and statutes, the Chicago Bar Association, the Chicago campus, the Chicago Plan Commission, the Chicago Zoning Ordinance, and numerous files on civil rights and nondiscrimination as well as Title IX at Northwestern University. There is also information on Mandel's work in the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act Program, some general correspondence, the delivery of legal services, the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, the Department of Labor, and many files covering Mandel's work in discrimination.

Boxes 31-35 include Mandel's work in discrimination, the drug testing program, information covering the Evanston Campus, some examples of her 1993 work, Federal Regulations and the Employment Practices of Colleges and Universities, Finances, Human Subjects Review Committee, and Illinois Education Facilities Authority on Revenue Bonds from 1974-1985.

Boxes 36-40 include information from Mandel's time working on the Illinois Education Facilities Authority on Revenue Bonds from 1985-1993, Illinois Health Facilities Authority on Revenue Bonds from 1976, and Illinois Independent Higher Education Loan Authority on Revenue Bonds from 1982-1983.

Mandel's boxes 41-45 include more files on her work on the Illinois Independent Higher Education Loan Authority on Revenue Bonds from 1983, the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act, insurance, the protection of intellectual property, a job evaluation system, leases, examples of her legal representation for Northwestern University as the Defendant, many files covering license agreements, and some covering litigation and loan programs.

Boxes 46-50 include information on Northwestern Memorial Hospital, University Parking Facilities, a review of the Office of General Counsel, patents, some personal files, and many files detailing personnel policy and procedures for different occasions.

Boxes 51-55 cover Mandel's work in real estate, her records, the role of non-governmental organizations, salary, a self-study report, many settlement agreements, a file on sexual harassment, student affairs, a summary of lease provisions, tenure, taxes, work product, and the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act.
