The Center for Nursing general administrative records fill eight and one-half bones and span the years 1975-1988. The series is divided into four categories; committee files; budget records; general files: and student files.

The committee files are arranged alphabetically by committee name and chronologically by year within each committee file. The records generally include agenda, minutes, correspondence, and reports. Of special note is the Admissions and Promotions Committee which completed a study on which factors were the best predictors of successful nursing school performance and job placement. The Advisory Committee oversaw a thorough evaluation of the program in 1982, culminating in a report by the Nursing Education Review Committee, whose members came from six different schools and programs within Northwestern University. A similar study exploring the relationship between the McGaw Medical Center and the Center for Nursing was performed by the Task Force on Nursing in 1987-1988. Other significant committees represented include the Institutional Review Board, the Executive Committee, and the Executive Council (a joint committee between the Center for Nursing and the Northwestern Memorial Hospital).

The budget records Are arranged chronologically by year and date between 1975-1985. The files typically contain correspondence and statistics on revenue and expenditures. The statistics art usually broken down further into suboroups such as faculty and staff salaries, supplies, equipment, student enrollment, and housing. A five year review was performed in 1984, examining and documenting budgetary trends. Recommendations were made for the period succeeding the five year review.

The general files are arranged alphabetically by subject heading, and chronologically within each subject. Many topics are covered: faculty bylaws, lists, and statistics; description of the nursing program; annual reports. 1979-1965: self-evaluation reports from 1980, 1984, and 1986; and student lists and statistics. Also of note are progress reports (1978) and a report to the Illinois Department of Registration and Education. Other subject files represent a broad range of administrative concerns such as housing and office space, research, curriculum, tuition, and enrollment.

The student files are arranged alphabetically by the student's surname, and fill one and one-half boxes. The files generally consist of applications, transcripts, and correspondence. Information is provided regarding classes taken by students at Northwestern University and other schools, the student's family, GRE scores, and in some cases more detailed description of the student's academic, professional, and personal background.
