Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The William Andrew Dyche Papers are arranged into two folders. The first folder contains biographical materials, clippings, and articles. The second folder contains Dyche's incoming and outgoing correspondence as Business Manager from 1903 to 1910 and is arranged chronologically by date. There is a single letter from 1918. The more important items in the series are the correspondence with William Deering and Edward F. Swift. Some of this correspondence pertains to Northwestern's response to the Iroquois Theater fire and Daniel Burnham's plan for Northwestern's Evanston campus.

An addition consists of one carbon copy of a typed letter signed by William Dyche, dated April 27, 1915, and addressed to the Northwestern University Board of Trustees, tendering his resignation as Business Manager. Dyche stated that his resignation was “a protest against policies which are injuring the University.” The letter was added to Box 1, folder 2.
