Heller’s “Versuche zu Goethe” Papers, 1970s
Scope and Contents
These additions to the Erich Heller papers fills six boxes and spans the years from 1911 to 1990. The additions have been organized into four sections: personal materials, professional materials, books, and artifacts.
The personal materials contain biographical records including Heller’s birth certificates, passport, university diploma, and immigration papers. Also found here are: Heller’s correspondence with friends, acquaintances, and institutions; personal calendars and journals; and documents, funeral programs, and eulogies relating to Heller’s death.
The professional materials include items related to Heller’s work at Northwestern University such as his curriculum vitae, supplements to those vitae, and correspondence; collections of Heller’s academic articles and reviews of his published work; and texts from Heller’s professional trips, public addresses, and eulogies.
The books section contains Heller’s books in both English and German.
The artifacts section contains Heller’s medal from the Goethe Institute.
