Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Mabel A. Elliott papers fill four boxes. They are arranged in five subseries: correspondence, teaching files, research materials, speeches, and publications. There is also one folder of biographical material and one of material relating to her education.

The correspondence consists primarily of copies of letters from Elliott seeking information for her publications and other letters relating to editorial matters and professional meetings and programs as well as recommendations for students and former students.

The teaching files contain primarily lecture and reading notes, syllabi, and a few student papers from courses taught by Elliott.

Research materials consist of one folder (Box 3, Folder 5) of interview questionnaires completed for the Chatham College/Urban League Study of individual black families moving into white neighborhoods in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.

Elliott's speaking engagements are represented by only a few folders of speech drafts and related notes.

A number of Elliott's published writings and drafts complete the series.
