Description of the Addition

This addition to the papers of Dwight Conquergood spans the period 1977-1996 and includes materials in the following categories:

The articles subseries contains several academic papers written by Conquergood during the years 1985-1986.

Correspondence and announcements relating to Conquergood's affiliation with Northwestern University's Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Arts between the years 1990-1996 are included in the CIRA subseries.

The class materials subseries contains extensive documentation of Conquergood's assignments and curricula, papers by his students, and published reviews of his courses issued by Northwestern's Course and Teacher Evaluation Council between the years 1982-1993.

Incoming professional and personal letters written by friends, students and associates are held in the correspondence subseries and span the years 1977-1996.

Narratives from inhabitants of the Hmong refugee camp Ban Vinai are held in the field work subseries. Included are transcripts of interviews with refugees, missionaries, medics, etc.

The photographs subseries contains images of the refugees at camp Ban Vinai, images of samples of their woven textiles, and several images of Hmong immigrants to the United States. They span the dates 1985-1989.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Dwight Conquergood papers include materials donated to the University Archives by E. Patrick Johnson (Accession No. 06-77, June 23, 2006).

Separated Materials

A small volume of extraneous materials and duplicates have been discarded.
