Addition, 1930 - 2000

This addition to the Patricia Neal papers fills five boxes and spans the period from the 1930s through the 2000s.

The majority of the material in the addition are 8x10 inch photographs dating from the 1940s and 1950s, including professional portraits of Patricia Neal and promotional and backstage photographs from some of the films and stage productions in which she starred. Films represented include The Hasty Heart and John Loves Mary, as well as Fountainhead, Bright Leaf, and Three Secrets. There are also smaller personal photographs from the second half of Patricia Neal’s life as well as oversized photographs of her professional work. The oversized photographs, due to their size, are separated from the rest of the photographs.

This addition also contains correspondence, travel schedules, playbills, and programs as well as a 1950 publication of the official Patricia Neal Fan Club. There are also newspaper clippings, magazines, and other oversized publications dating from the 1940s through the 1990s that feature Patricia Neal. The majority of materials are originals; however, some are photocopies.

Three scrapbooks are included in this addition. One scrapbook contains primarily correspondence during the period 1945-1949, many of which are Western Union telegrams. The other two scrapbooks are primarily newspaper clippings dating from the 1940s through the 1980s.

This addition includes three movie posters. These posters are from The Hasty Heart and The Breaking Point, and two are from releases of these films in Japan. These posters are separated from the rest of the addition and are stored in oversize storage.
