Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Records of the Northwestern University Outing Club (NUOC) fill one box and span the years 1965 to 1980. The records consist of committee records and newsletters.

Organizational materials include the club constitution (published in the Newsletter, vol. I no. II ); minutes; and the proposal for the merger with Norris Outdoors. Also included is a script for a skit about five club members on a camping trip from one of the club's skit nights.

The Northwestern University Outing Club Newsletter (sometimes called the NUOC Bulletin or Notes from the Wilderness) contains announcements of the organization's programs and activities, member directories, letters to the editor, poems, art, and reports by members of their experiences during club activities. Newsletters date between 1965 and 1980; some are undated, volume numbers are not consistent, and there are some gaps. Newsletter materials include hand-written submissions to the Newsletter for possible publication (left in original order since many do not contain either names or dates).
