Edith Capper Scrapbook (Facsimile), circa 1903-1910

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 1

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection consists of a facsimile copy of Edith Capper Eustice’s scrapbook, dating from the period circa 1903-1910, and containing photographs of Northwestern University and Evanston, Illinois academic, residential, and ecclesiastical buildings; interior photographs associated especially with Northwestern University-related living units and often depicting the domestic and social activities of female students; photographs of Sheppard Field and of the Northwestern University Marching Band; photographs of Capper and Eustice family and friends; photographs related to personal travel; and photographs from the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, the St. Louis world’s fair of 1904.

Appended to the scrapbook are a series of vintage photographs of Northwestern University buildings contrasted with photographs of those same buildings taken in 2017. Richard Leach, the grandson of Edith and Alfred Eustice, supplemented those photographic comparisons with narrative and historical descriptions of the buildings.
