Latin Scansion, undated
Scope and Contents
The Stuart G. P. Small Papers fill eight boxes and span the period 1947-1989. The papers are organized in four main categories: biographical materials, correspondence, teaching files and publications.
The biographical materials include curricula vitae, clippings, obituaries, programs of meetings at which Small spoke, and his listing in the 1975 American Philological Association directory of members.
The general correspondence is primarily concerned with student recommendations, teaching, and personal correspondence.
The teaching files are arranged in two sections: course files, and subject files. The course files include lecture notes, exercises, teacher evaluations, examinations and syllabi. The subject files include research and teaching notes.
The publication files consist of a typescript of Small's book on Catullus, related correspondence, ads and reviews of the book, as well as a few of his papers, reprints of his articles and book reviews.
A curriculum vitae and supplement dated 1985 were added to Biographical Materials (Box 1, Folder1). Two reviews of Small's Catullus: A Reader's Guide to the Poems (1983) were added to the Book Reviews in Box 8, Folder 7. One additional folder of CTEC Evaluations (1979-1988) was added to Box 2 as Folder 22. These materials were separated from the Records of the Department of Classics, 1964-1991, Series 11/3/9/3 on February 1, 2006.
