Scope and Contents

The minutes of the meetings of the faculty of the School of Speech document the development of policy and other administrative matters of the School from its inception in 1892 through 1968. Among various matters recorded in the minutes are the adoption of new or revised rules and degree requirements, curricular changes, committee appointments, reports of committees, recommendations for student awards and honors and for promotion and graduation of students, and student petitions.

Abstract

The minutes of the meetings of the faculty of the School of Speech document the development of policy and other administrative matters of the School from its inception in 1892 through 1968. Among various matters recorded in the minutes are the adoption of new or revised rules and degree requirements, curricular changes, committee appointments, reports of committees, recommendations for student awards and honors and for promotion and graduation of students, and student petitions.

Arrangement Note

The minutes are arranged in four bound volumes (one each for the years 1892-1901, 1901-1913, 1913-1927, and 1927-1934) and five folders covering the years 1934-1968. Entries in the first two volumes are handwritten. Beginning in 1913 all minutes are in typewritten form.

Method of Acquisition

Roy Wood, Dean of the School of Speech, transferred these Records to the Archives on October 27, 1978 (Accession Number 78-84).
