Scope and Contents

This series, filling one box, is comprised of records relating to three courses offered by the French and Italian Department. The records span the years from 1956 to 1976, but are quite scattered. They cluster mainly within the period 1957-1961. The series includes work sheets, quizzes, mid-term examinations, alternate and make-up final exams and correspondence. The quizzes and exams consist of a mixture of master copies and graded copies.

Abstract

This series, filling one box, is comprised of records relating to three courses offered by the French and Italian Department. The records span the years from 1956 to 1976, but are quite scattered. They cluster mainly within the period 1957-1961. The series includes work sheets, quizzes, mid-term examinations, alternate and make-up final exams and correspondence. The quizzes and exams consist of a mixture of master copies and graded copies.

Arrangement Note

The series is arranged by course number and by quarter. Material in each is organized chronologically by date, with the undated materials placed in the back of the folder.

Method of Acquisition

These records were transferred to the University Archives by Janine Spencer of the French and Italian Department on August 24, 1996 as Accession 96-111.

Separated Materials

One cubic foot of duplicate materials and one cubic inch of extraneous materials were discarded. All off-prints of articles by faculty members of Northwestern University were transferred to the faculty biographical files. The records of the French honorary fraternity Phi Sigma Iota were separated as Accession 97-13, and processed as Series 31/6/46.
