Northwestern University Woman's College Register

 Collection — Box: 1
Identifier: 40/3

Scope and Contents

The Register of the Woman's College is chronological listing of students in the College (“Woman's Hall” beginning in the fall of 1892). It contains sections for the Spring and Fall terms of 1874 and for each of the three academic terms (Fall, Winter, and Spring) from Fall 1876 through Spring 1896. Entries also include the student's city of residence and (except for the Fall 1874 term) her date of arrival.

Entries from Winter 1877 through Fall 1883 generally include a note on the payment status of each student's account. Those from Winter 1884 through Spring 1896 often include the date of the student's departure from the College, and occasionally a note on the reason for her departure. A few entries note room changes or the street address of the student's home. At the beginning of the register is a printed list (July 1884) of rental rates for each room in the College.
