The Hamid Naficy Iranian Movie Posters Collection contains 258 posters, 249 of which have been digitized and cataloged individually. These posters document the social history of film in Iran and offer a unique visual representation of the political and social climate there between 1966 and 2014. The posters also document film history in other Middle Eastern countries. The posters can be viewed by searching the Images Repository or the library’s online catalog.
Two posters advertising the Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art's exhibition "Salaam Cinema! 50 Years of Iranian Movie Posters," September 17-December 11, 2016, have not been digitized. Items 252-258, posters advertising the Turkish films Afife Jale, The Blue Exile (Mavi sürgün), Despite Everything (Herşeye Rağmen), Hanım, A Heart of Glass (Camdan Kalp), Muhsin Bey, and The Secret Face (Gizli yüz) have also not been digitized.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Hamid Naficy Iranian and Middle Eastern Movie Posters Collection was donated to the University Archives by Hamid Naficy in 2014, 2015 and 2016, as accession numbers 14-193, 15-180, and 16-167. Items 252-258 were donated by Hamid Naficy to the University Archives in 2020.
