Scope and Contents

The papers of Richard B. "Dick" Thornton are held in one box, and consist of a small amount of correspondence from Thornton, a flash drive of files from Thornton’s career (including photographs from his time at Northwestern University and with the Canadian Football League, articles about him and files from his time at the Coca-Cola Company), an invitation to Thornton’s marriage in 2013, trading cards of Thornton in the Canadian Football League (one from his time with the Blue Bombers and one from the Argonauts) and lastly a book of poetry by Thornton titled Pigskin Poet>.

Abstract

Richard B. "Dick" Thornton played football for Northwestern Unviersity (1958 and 1959), and for several professional American and Canadian football teams. After football coaching and university positions, he became an international marketing executive for the Coca-Cola Company. His papers contain correspondence and mementos from throughout his life.
