George A. Foster (1859-1922) Papers

The George Alfred Foster papers consist principally of an autograph book which includes signatures of Northwestern University Academy classmates and associates, with those signatures often accompanied by high-minded, aspirational exhortations and quotations or with brief reminiscences of shared experiences. Some of those reminiscences afford insight into student life and activities at Northwestern University Academy during 1877, the last year of Foster’s attendance. There are, as well, signatures of classmates who attended the Northwestern University class of 1881’s 25th reunion banquet (June 20, 1906) which was held at Foster’s Evanston home.

Accompanying the autograph book is a program from the Northwestern University class of 1881 25th reunion banquet, a photograph which appears to be from that class reunion, and two photographs featuring George and Mary Foster and members of their family.
