Scope and Contents
This series consists of 32 record cartons (plus additions) of letters of reference for former Northwestern University students. Most of the letters are related to student teaching experience, although some are related to work in speech therapy clinics. A small number of letters pertain to Ph.D. graduates seeking teaching jobs. The date span of the series is approximately 1946-1993.
Addition This addition to the Educational Credential Files consists of almost two cubic feet of records of students with last names beginning with the letters M-S.
Addition The additions to the Educational Credential Files fill five cartons and span the years 1977-1997. A complete list of names included in the boxes follows the container list.

The letters are arranged alphabetically by last name.
Method of Acquisition
These records were transferred to the University Archives in several installments. The relevant Accession numbers are the following:
Addition These records were transferred to the University Archives by Cate Hickey of the Career Development Center as Accession Number 02-124 on August 27, 2002, Accession Number 02-143 on September 30, 2002, and Accession Number 04-94 on July 8, 2004.
Addition These records were transferred to the University Archives in three accessions. The first was transferred by Jeremy Hopkins, University Career Services, as Accession Numbers 05-85 on August 26, 2005, and 06-106 on August 9, 2006. The third accession in this addition was transferred from Education Credential Files were transferred to the University Archives by Jeremy Hopkins of Career Services on August 28, 2007, as Accession # 07-108.
