    The Florence Dickhaut papers are arranged in one half-size box, span the years between 1905 to 1951, but date primarily from 1905 through 1912. Included are a small amount of general biographical materials; a folder of some of Dickhaut's prose and poetry; two scrapbooks documenting her activities and interests while at Northwestern; and four folders of memorabilia such as invitations; tickets; programs from dances, theatrical events, and debates; and other related materials.

    The Florence Dickhaut papers are arranged in one half-size box, span the years between 1905 to 1951, but date primarily from 1905 through 1912. Included are a small amount of general biographical materials; a folder of some of Dickhaut's prose and poetry; two scrapbooks documenting her activities and interests while at Northwestern; and four folders of memorabilia such as invitations; tickets; programs from dances, theatrical events, and debates; and other related materials. The scrapbooks and memorabilia offer a view of Northwestern campus life during the early years of the twentieth century and, in particular, illustrate some of the popular social activities and events during the period 1905-1909.

  • Method of Acquisition

    The papers of Florence Smith Dickhaut were donated to the University Archives by Mrs. Robert Kimbel in June, 1978 (Acc. #78-21).

  • Conditions Governing Access

    None.

  • Separated Materials

    Dickhaut's 1909 B.A. diploma from Northwestern and her 1923 M.A. diploma from the University of Chicago have been separated to the University Archives' diploma collection. About twenty photographs have been added to the Archives' photograph collection. Many general items such as Northwestern publications and materials relating to the class of 1909 have been added to the Archives' general reference files.
